The Quiet Counting

The holiday is over, and each one of us brings home a memory. What is the best part of the holiday? What is the best food we ate? What is the best memory we remember about? What is the not so nice about it?

My wife would say the fishing of fresh mussels. And that’s certainly God has granted her the secret desire of her heart. For my youngest girl, is the cycling. I need to remember it now, that she loves cycling, driving, go-carting, this kind of thing. For my eldest girl, the 4 minutes ferry trip to cross the island. I learnt that she has very gentle spirit.

Blessing of the Soil

One afternoon as I watered the flowers and vegetables at our backyard, I was drawn by a beautiful flower at our backyard. So I took my time to enjoy its beauty. And I poured my heart over the grief of a lost loved one. The precious little life I always remember whenever I come across the beauty of flowers. And I just give thanks to God for His grace. I am blessed by the reminder how beautiful Grace is, because it 100% depended of the Giver and not the receiver.

And I could thank God for the little hole in my heart that reminds me always of His amazing Grace.

One of best birthday ever

I wrote to someone that this year my wish is: “More of Jesus, less of Me.”

Soon I find myself getting less, and I felt uneasy. Thank you Lord for showing me the need for transformation 🙂 Deep down, I crave for importance and significant. I feel satisfaction from the praises of people. The silence doesn’t feel comfortable at all.

Indeed only God could transform me into that humble spirit of John. He could rejoice for Jesus to be greater. Thank you Lord for wanting to see me transformed.

Yet yesterday was probably one of the best birthdays ever.

We spent half a day playing in the beach. It was cloudy sunny, so it’s not so hot, but the beach was empty. The two things that only God could do. Later we had dinner at our family fave restaurant. And we bought home black forrest birthday cake. The girls showered me with beautiful card & handmade birthday present. And my wife prayed for me.

Thank you Lord for a wonderful birthday.

Kindness

Yesterday was a public holiday and I got a day of rest. Little did I know how today will turn. Out of my surprise and delight, my little girl asked me to sit down. Then she began to massage my back. She spent quite a considerable amount of time and effort, not just pinching aimlessly like before. Afterwards, she massage my right leg, and my left leg.

I am very touched by her act of service and kindness. Certainly she’s small and weak, but her action speaks louder than what she accomplishes.

She reminds me of what God is looking. He is looking at our hearts, not so much of our accomplishments. What are they to God anyway?

May the Lord bless you my daughter for your kindness and act of service.

Permanency

I heard a few times people quote the phrase “the only constant is Change”, and in those times, those words came into my deaf ear. It’s something as adult we all see and know, isn’t it?

Just yesterday, I listened to a technology presentation on the “new” paradigm of software development. The name itself indicates that developing a software these days is a continuous development, or seems to me like a never ending job. But is this really “new”, as if the old days when people develop software, it stays there forever?

And I remember my own painful experience, when I built a system and witness it being replaced less than 5 years.

Promise Keeper

We received quite a numbers of prayer requests from people. And going through the list, I started to draw similarities. Here is the grouping based on similarities that I observe: From a concerned parents (usually mothers) for their children and even grandchildren, secondly from a concerned husbands for the well-beings of their wives, and from singles about their health & works.

As I was meditating on Luke 1, the song of Mary and prophecy of Zechariah, I was drawn to this phrase,”God remembers His covenant.”
