The Quiet Counting

The holiday is over, and each one of us brings home a memory. What is the best part of the holiday? What is the best food we ate? What is the best memory we remember about? What is the not so nice about it?

My wife would say the fishing of fresh mussels. And that’s certainly God has granted her the secret desire of her heart. For my youngest girl, is the cycling. I need to remember it now, that she loves cycling, driving, go-carting, this kind of thing. For my eldest girl, the 4 minutes ferry trip to cross the island. I learnt that she has very gentle spirit.

Now how about me? What do I treasure the most?

I enjoy the scenaries on the way. I like the fun so much playing with my girls, in the pool, on the beach, and on paddling. I enjoy the early sleeping and early waking up. I like the morning walk by the beach and reading my Bible and praying. Again the breathtaking display of the wave in the early morning when nobody was there. And perhaps what I like the most is the time to nurture my soul inwardly.

Here is the list what I thank God for as he has answered our prayers:

  • We extended our holiday by 1 day, giving us more time to relax and not rushing. The best part is from high price -> member price -> special price
  • The finding of fresh mussels, 42 of them
  • The finding of koalas, when initially there seems none. At the end, 24 of them + 1 kangaroo
  • Our plants didn’t die despite we left them for 6 days
  • Safe journey on the road. There’re few times dangerous drivers cut through my wife when she drove. Also she reminded me when I didn’t see. And another when I turned too fast and the car skid.
  • Nice lunch when we didn’t know where and what to eat.
  • Smooth journey too, no going wrong way
  • The gift parcel from my SIL is not spoilt
  • The food we forgot to bring didn’t spoil
  • Nice weather for the children to do go-cart and swimming

There are many things to thank God (which we didn’t pray but God gave to us):

  • Things happened on Sunday that we didn’t join anything, but in fact was needed to do our packing
  • We had a very smooth journey, despite leaving 2 hours later than initial plan, we still managed to arrive on good time, and enjoy swimming as family
  • The children devotion book we bought has really good contents and we discovered a lot new things together
  • We had many good laughters: sand castling, burrying on the beach, go-carting, even the koala that pees on us.
  • We missed out the crabs but we’re saved from the thunderstorm. In fact the girls had chance to see thunders and lightings.
  • Our families were well and healthy.

What I treasure the most this Christmas holiday? I think is Emmanuel; God with us.
