I just realised that I’ve never put any posts on the topic / book of Nehemiah. What a shame. Probably I’ve never really sit down long enough to look at it.
This year, as I’ve been reading this book. I thought to write my discoveries. What I’ve learnt and what impressed me the most about Nehemiah.
- He is a man of prayer. When he heard bad news, he prayed (1:4). When he was to answer the king, he prayed (2:4). When being ridiculed, he prayed (4:4). When facing adversaries and danger, he asked the people to pray (4:9). When tempted to despair, he prayed (6:9)
- He is a man that cares for others (5:6, 14, 17-18). To the weak & poor, he fought for their rights and didn’t overlord the people under him.
- He is a man that intuned with God. Twice he said the Lord put things into his hearts (2:12 & 7:5)
Despite the book about Nehemiah and what he did. I think God had chosen him. And it’s interesting to note the person that God chose to use for this task. Someone whose prayer life is solid, able to hear well from God, and whose heart really care for others.
