I don’t like detour. It takes longer, a waste of energy and time, and money. It spoils the day. What a straight-forward path becomes very long. Definitely I would arrive later than what I wished. Who likes detour?
When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea.The Israelites went up out of Egypt ready for battle.
Exodus 13:17-18
The verses above is a reminder to trust God. Even in what we thought is a blocked path / closed door. And we need to trust Him that the detour is meant for our good. We will eventually reach the destination. There are lessons that probably He wants us to learn along the way. No matter our desire / goal / aspirations, we need to submit our will to His will.
Paul experienced it many times. Yet he’s not frustrated with those road blocks. He waited for God’s timing. Meanwhile he wrote letters & asking for prayers.
Detour is a time for learning & growth. The journey (who we become) is more important than the destination (what we achieve).
