Completing the stories

I had a very long sleep again after so long..

The Cameron Highland trip turned out to be the best holiday this year

Spent 3 days 2 nites with karen, chew chern, vivi, cherry, sui, and daniel lim (called dd) at OMF Bungalow at Cameron Highland. Really wonderful. I think God must have answered our prayers

Details of the story i could only keep in my journal (too long to be re-typed here). And photos as well are too personal i guess to be publized here…hahahaha

One thing that has not changed … and i could re-tell here …

On Sat nite, i left sg on my own to Cameron Highland, reached Tapah (small city where a cab is supposed to bring me up to Cameron). Everything was very smooth (reached there abt 4.15 am), so waiting for the cab and driver to pick me up at 4.30 am. The time passed and now 4.45 am, i walked to the public phone to make phone call (wake the driver up), coz somehow i didn’t auto roam my hp

Suddenly an indian man came out from a parked cab (i tot was a broken cab coz so old and seems unusuable anymore). To cut short the story, he claimed that he’s the man that supposed to bring me up, while i checked his name and his car number was not the same as one i’m supposed to take. We got into funny “fight” to call numbers, i want to borrow his hp to call the correct cab, and he insisted that he’s the rite person, and trying to call his boss. He even said that last nite he picked my 6 friends up to Cameron, made me more suspicious how he could bring 6 ppl with luggage on a single cab?

So at the end, i decided to go with him. The worst is that he will take my money, drop me somewhere. He might kill me as well, but yah…perhaps i will share the gospel with him first. And hopefully after hearing the good news, he will repent and stop killing me…hahaha

Then began the journey of climbing up to Cameron Highland. It’s was 1.5 hr journey through the snaky road, with cold and strong wind blowing my head. Halfway up, i was thinking to give up cos the road and the wind. But thinking back how far i’ve come…could only pray there inside the cab.

Finally reach OMF bungalow early in morning (still dark) abt 6.30 am, and 2 dogs the first to greet me.  I was ushered to a single room, where i just throw myself and thought it’s the best bed ever. The warmness, smell, and size just so nice. Before long, Daniel came and i joined for breakfast. So the Cameron Highland trip just began for me.

The ending is another adventure….hahahaha…proves that history repeats itself. Man never learn from mistake. I made another mistake (can’t be counted as mistake actually because i didn’t know before).

Well, i hope just to finish my journey stories…soon.

Cameron Highland trip

Will be away for another trip to Cameron Highland soon.

So..UCANTAM (US, Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia) trip for 2005…

Glad for the prayer supports of many, including my dear grandmother. Nothing is better than the closeness and warmness of your closests people…and nothing is worse than the rejection from your closests people. And good overcomes evil. (Many loaded statement here…but i just want to express what’s going on inside me at moment).

Herry…i will update again once i come back from Cameron… Pls pray for me…i need God’s grace to be able to get the bus back from Cameron to Kuala Lumpur on Tue 9th morning. Else, i don’t know.

I hope there won’t be those stressful moments again in this trip. I hope it will be all pleasant and enjoyable holiday…with people that i love and am loved.

New York City – Toronto Journey

It’s another early morning 5 am we woke up, after a long nite of walking in Manhattan, NYC, Times Square & Broadway area to be more exact. After the beautiful show of Beauty & The Beast…“who will ever love a beast?”

So began the journey back to Toronto, to catch 5.45 pm flight to Vancouver.  Target is to reach there in 8 hours. That nite i’ve look again the map and decided on the route to take this time. We left at 6 am. Took as few as possible toll to save U$, and took New Jersey route as faster than through the city of New York.

Still we took 2 hours, just to get outside New York City…:D I still remember when my sister took wrong lane, and the officer stopped us and asked for driving license. My sister’s end tomorrow. Another is when we pass the tunnel to New Jersey…it’s so narrow that just nice for the car….went for quite sometimes that if my sister didn’t keep the steer…we might hit the wall or car beside.

This time journey was very intense. We didn’t have proper meal…only 1 burger for me, 1 packet of chips and chicken nuggets for my sis. And she felt sleepy on one occasion. So starting calling out friends to keep her awake. By nature i’m not talkative person. …..Eng ing eng…te te te te….(was quite scary). But funny and true…as we called Herry, we asked for direction….hahahaha….and so in this way, God is working through our weaknesses, guiding us safely and on time back… (Amazing)

And personally, the scariest part of this road trip was when she had to overtake trucks/big vehicles (dunno how to call them). One incident where i saw a car coming, but she didn’t. The other two overtaking action was perfectly safe. Thank God who still value our lives…yup yup…we’re immortal till our works on Earth finish.

And so, we reached Toronto at 4 pm. Suddenly to Pastor Oliver house to take our luggages. And short farewell with the wife, Mrs Lydia or i call her ci Lydia. We hurried up to the Airport….

After awhile, we realise we haven’t seen Airport…in fact sign board to London. WHATTTTTT!!!!??? And i checked my map (thank God we still keep Toronto map), their naming was strange…the East and West for Airport was reversed….so we hd been going to wrong direction….and it’s highway long one to make U Turn…..WHAAAATTTTT???? That’s it…all my sis’ confidence was gone (i think)….i saw some planes went to one direction…so pointed to her we should make our way there for there’s the Airport (though i can’t see)

Hahahaha…..so this time…no map….praying hard…just go that way that way…direction of the planes. Till we saw petrol station and she filled in the tank to return the car (Yes we need to return the car as well…and by now it’s 5pm). Am i going to miss another flight? …. The 2nd one is not as scary as the first one…:D

So i ask the petrol officer how to get to Airport. So he said to me, forget about your map. Drive straight, then left…about 20 minutes. Hahahaha….there….so with God’s help…manage to reach there in 20-25 minutes in correct terminal as well as i happened to check it out earlier. (You see how many times i mention God’s help, protection, guidance….for truly otherwise….things will turn the other way)

So she returned the car…and i unload the 8 luggages.

We rush to the check-in counter…and this time no need to do unpacking again. It’s 5.30 pm now……15 minutes before take-off. So we asked few passangers if we can go ahead of them cause this one is immediate boarding. One couple didn’t allow us….what’s their problem? And the officer told us we can go ahead…but our luggage has to go on the next flight. Hahahahahaha………………..anotherstory of a luggage?

So my sister just said whatever…most important is we get to Vancouver. So we ran our way to the last gate (told by the officer to be able to make it because the plane wont’ wait for people)…..There u kind of watching Amazing Race…two people are running in Airport with 2 hand carriages (Me with one big backpack, and one hand carry)…

After the scanning…i finished earlier, grabbed my sister luggage, and waited further down…but she didn’t turn up….What’s wrong again this time? And when i saw her…she’s going to the wrong direction. WHAATTTT??? There i shouted….called her 3 times MEMEEEEEEEEE….and of course i take it that all people look at me….well nevermind….they think someone is crazy….but most importantly i fullfill my duty to protect my sis and bring her back to Vancouver.

At last we made to the departure gate…and there’re still people there. Yes…we caught our breath, we made it. Thank You Lord! Even in plane, we still can’t believe it. Means, 11 hours of driving…straight…for my sister…and those running like mad….

When we land at Vancouver….to our best surprise, we saw our luggage at baggage claim. There i asked my sister to bow our head and pray shortly. If it’s not the Lord who’re with us, we won’t be able to make it. So…this story is dedicated to the One who watches over us, and will always so…Our Lord Emmanuel.

Story of A Luggage – 2

I spent about 6 days in Orlando, 4 days in Disney World + 1 day rest + 1 Disney Downtown..Another long story that shall be kept for other time.

Time to leave Orlando for Canada…so Thursday morning on 7th July, everything seems to be settled. We booked a shuttle bus, i had my breakfast, we checked out from hotel…and the shuttle bus didn’t turn up

Finally we got taxi sending us to Airport, faster and amazingly the taxi could carry all our stuff (2 super big luggages, 1 medium luggage, 1 dozz, 1 small luggage, 1 bagpack, 1 handcarry, and 1 laptop…total 4 luggages to be check-in later, and 4 hand-carries)

The drama happened at the check-in counter, where i underestimate two super luggage weight. The nite before i estimated one is 30-35 kg, and the other one 25-30 kgs. And to our horror, they are at 50 and 40 kgs, while the allowed luggage is only 32 kgs.

So we unpacked the biggest luggage…first attempt, we removed about 6 kg. What?? Another 6-7 kgs more to go, since they allow maximum of 37.5 kg.

So we did the 2nd unpacking and reshuffling….this time round, we managed to removed another 3 kgs. What…after removing all the heavy stuff and the big luggage seems empty now, we only reduced 3 kgs. Guess where those weight transfereed? To Andrew’s luggage…:D My sis was quite amazed….where do i learnt such efficient packing skills? Of course from Mission Trip

Well, we tried the last one, and suceeded to remove another 2.5 kgs. Thats it…if we can’t make it, we’ll throw away some stuff. And Thank God we could keep everything…and in fact due to shortage of time, they allowed the 40 kgs luggage to pass.

This time round, the luggage becomes our hero. Initially i packed only about 20 kgs. And so all the kgs are transferred to the saving luggage

Only when we arrived in Toronto, and i did little of unpacking to carry just one bagpack to New York, i found out that the soap has leaked into my clothes.    Apparently somehow the luggage was thrown very hard…and the soap (body wash) was pressed out…and with my limited clothes…i now have even less.  Thank God that the saving luggage now really sacrifice himself…not only my clothes affected…but i’ve dirty Andrew’s luggage (a dry clean i supposed…)

Was quite frustrated…i’ve to find laundry in New York to survive wearing clothes…have to clean Andrew’s luggage as well, and some other stuff that was ‘cleaned’ by the leaked soap.

Less dramatic…(maybe i’ve forgotten the details)…to unpack 3 times nevertheless is an unforgetable memory of UCANTA trip. Thank God that we made it….i think we spent about 1 hour at check-in point, and left with 30 minutes before boarding.

Where is God in this journey? He’s everywhere, guiding us through and bringing us pass the difficult and almost impossible situation…and reassuring to me indeed He’s the Sovereign Lord.

Story of A Luggage – (1)

This story is dedicated for my friend Herry Limantoro.

The story began on Tue nite when i slept for abt 1 – 2 hours. And 4 hours sleep on Wednesday. Andrew woke up up by 6.30am on Thurs morning. Took taxi to Airport and just reached there by 7.30am the latest time for check-in luggage. The beginning sort of telling what kind of trip is going to be.

4 hours flight to Taipei, and 5 hours of transit there, roaming around the airport and trying out my new camera. Followed by 13 hours flight to LA. Not much difficulties from the officer this time, gave me good impression of US. They just took my fingerprints and photo which i gladly give. And Herry fetched me there in Airport…what a very nice starting for my US trip. Together we took the subway train, a long way to Hollywood and then Universal Studio. A nice journey there, seeing for first time US. I like it. I like the culture…so diverse and alive, the arts…so unique and bold, the architecture and arrangement…so dynamic and again uniquely different one from the others.

First incident came when incidentally the lock number was changed. Hahahaha….quite panicked by then…and Herry suggested the old method; brute force. So i scroll the numbers and he clicked the lock, till finally it opened  Well, it’s Andrew’s luggage, and i promised him to take good care of his luggage.

That’s it, a very long day…reached home abt 11-12 midnite. Planned for my flight tomorrow at 6.55 am, 2 hours travel means to leave the house by 4 am.

I can’t really remember what time we’re leaving the house. About 4.30 am i think. But it’s a very tight timing (abt 20 minutes to check in and board) with no room for mistake as the trains will always come on the scheduled time.

We caught the first train by seconds (after much running in dark and cold morning of LA). Sit there and rested for some times in train…caught up our breath…and took snapshot of Herry…hehehe. And then the 2nd train didn’t want to go. What’s this? By the time it stopped, the 3rd train already went off..and so that’s it…everything else will be late. And probably won’t be able to catch my flight.

While we’re in 3rd train, Herry called taxi (sounds like we’re in Amazing Race), but was told that it would be the same time needed to reach the Airport. With no other choice and can’t do anything, just pray and wait till the train brought us to the Airport….Huhuhu…then after the fourth train, the shuttle bus was late as well….and then i realised that i can’t directly board unless i’ve only 1 hand carry. So in the shuttle bus to the airport, i squezzed my backpack into my luggage….still can’t close bcs it became so bulky. Hehehe….dragging a half-open luggage like crazy ppl in LA airport early morning. And we came at wrong floor…by the time we are at right place we saw a super long queue….What’s this i thought…the flight is delayed? Or something has happened? Or…to my horror…it’s domestic flight, and there’re many flights going to different places of US at different times…And definitely my flight is just one of those many flights during the day. Oh no!!

So, we know what to do…can’t join this queue for sure. Directly we go to the entrance for boarding (another long queue) and time is abt 10 minutes left before closing of gate. There i was stopped and asked to go to the checkin by 1st officer. “It’s too big, u need to check-in”, she said. It’s true though, this size is supposed for check in, but i know i can’t check-in, it’ll be late by than. Maybe 1 hour to complete the check-in process, and here i’ve only 10 minutes.

Haha…don’t give up (by Prazt story)…so make one big round to the end of this queue…find big ppl with big luggage (Americans are big and they’re travelling as families). Hope the officer wont’ see me this time. Herry wait on the rear….hahahaha…u should see his face that so worried (i’m more worried actually). And i passed through the same officer again…praying hard she forgot my face after talking hardly with her…or somewhat she won’t see my luggage.

Pass!! And by now abt 5 minutes left, and still a long queue inside. I told Herry to stand by…and pls pray for me as well to be able to make it. What a nightmare when the 2nd officer inside stopped me. It’s even worse dispute with her (fighting to go in)…and at the end she asked me to put my luggage at measurement box….(praying hard somehow it would fit)…and yes…it stuck there…not bcs my contents…but the luggage size was bigger than the container measurement. When the luggage stuck there, my heart sunk…that’s it…and i’ve to go back to the check-in with its super long queue? For sure i miss this flight.

Somehow i forgot how it started (perhaps remembering Pastor Chris sermon) to persist as one is missing a flight…so i appeal that it’s my first time in US and early flight in morning, my plane is taking off…and other ppl also carry big luggages…It’s just big size, but my luggage isn’t that heavy, and i’m not carrying harmful stuff. Somehow she allowed me to go in. Can’t really describe it..pass 2 officers….

And to my surprise, there’s another procedure….the scanning area. Another queue…by this time i left with 0 minutes. But i’ve already half-way…may as well just try to enter. So this time with many ppl were staring at my big luggage…i just ignore them and thanking God when passed through the scanning.

Running frantically to all directions to find my boarding gate. At finally found out it’s at the last and corner door, and it’s already empty and closed. That’s it….no words could describe that moment when i saw that i’s late and the door is closed. I’d missed the flight.

Looking around for help, and found this counter with 2 ladies…i approached the Asian lady that look motherly and kind..reported to her my case (like a boy lost from his parents)…and she asked her friend to gave me 1st priority…but she told me to come back again at 940 am to confirm…the flight will be 1127. So i’ve 2 hours plus roaming around airport…called Herry to tell my sis…and told him i missed the flight (he has expected that i suspect).

Early morning at LA airport, felt hungry and exhausted…sleepy but can’t sleep lest i miss another chance….so ate one burger and read my Bible. Thank God for the passage of Lamentation…hehehe…i was lamenting…my first trip to US and i missed flight.

Thank God for providence, like ATM machine i can withdraw US dollar, and water fountain so i can drink water. And suddenly abt 9.30 i heard my name was called. What a morning i said, never in my life my name is called throughout an airport…with thousands ppl hearing Indonesian name…whuallo…

I went to the counter…and there’s some ppl queuing…so i do polite…queue behind the ppl. And the Asian lady called my name again…by this time i waved my hand to the air…”Here am i”…she quickly turned to me and handed me a boarding pass and said “Hurry up…ur flight is here” WHAAAATT??

She just pointed to a gate and told me just go there bcs the plane is taking off….thanked her…(she told me to run) and i run there where no one else left (everyone has entered the plane).

And just on my way to the aircraft…a man told me that my luggage can’t go to the plane bcs it’s too big. WHAAATT?? So how?

He gave me piece of paper (baggage claim number) and asked me to put my luggage there…wah…that’s it i think…then met a lady…told her my concern…and she told me if i packaged my children inside my luggage…(what a joke)…And she asked me to take out my water bottle. And i took my Bible as well coz i think if i’ve to survive, better to survive with a Bible. So there i’m almost crying…sit at the back and holding only my water bottle, my Bible, and Rudy’s video camera…not knowing what will happen with my luggage (maybe they’re dumped it somewhere, or check in and lost somewhere).

The flight stopped for 30-45 minutes at Houston…and there they unload the luggages and loaded new luggages…and i happened to see the process. Looking intensely through my window…and can’t find my luggage anywhere…that’s it i think. God has brought me as far as here on my way to Orlando…surviving so many things, and in fact i’ts lunch time and they only served me peanuts and drink…i had only one little burger in morning.

So arrived in Orlando finally (less excited than LA)….and made my way to the baggage claim (very long way)….and first thing i saw at the belt was…The LUGGAGE. Hahahaha….i run and hug this luggage. And thank God for journey mercy for both me and the luggage.

It may sound crazy (i know), but i think you will do the same… Maybe u’ll kiss the luggage

Well…that’s the most thrilling and happening throughout my UCANTA trip (US, Canada, Taiwan)….and it’s the beginning of Story of A Luggage. The others are less intense…but they’re unique and … i’m a clay not for nothing.

US Trip (3)

Finally the day is tomorrow…

Update from my last entry on US trip, at the end, managed to get Canon PowerShot A520…with cheapest price.. $488 with 512 mb SD Card + back pack + charger….

And this is really thank God because i met Herry there and he came there just walking and looking around …hehehe…what such a timely providence. At the end he offered help to do for me, checking the camera, tried it out, and bargained as well.

Then on Sunday miraculously got time to shop again…this time got the jean was looking for (30% from Giordano),  water bottle, and last-minute camera pouch. All in the budget and … got them when i don’t even think of ever getting them in first place. Sunday suddenly Cherry wanted to go Orchard, and Yen Lyng was waiting for somebody at Orchard, and Vi was free and waiting for evening meeting.

Yah…it’s very taxing towards today. Haven’t had enough sleep. But i thank God, i roughly get back to the old discipline of waking up early in the morning and read my Bible in total silence…:D

Perhaps after all, this US trip is just to train and shape me back to my olden days of daily reading Bible undisturbed in the morning…hehehehe

And to trust God’s providence…that everything i need will come at the rite time. It’s true that in the past i don’t need to buy almost a single thing. And now the time for buying things, helps also come as much as needed. Perhaps one day will come when i can do all these by myself?  or in turn helping someone else in need.

I’m never be the end of God’s blessings. It’s said that we’re blessed to bless. And more true is we’re part of bigger thing, that is God Himself and His unchanging plan.

So yah…US trip..i thank God for such a thing. I still need few more things. Perhaps they will come tonite?

Looking forward for a fruitful holiday…meeting friend and my sister. Having fun and refreshed… What’s the end o Lord? Only God knows. How clay would be at the end? Only God knows.

Thank God also for this afternoon lunch with bunch of Christians from workplace. Thanks to Abe and Justine for their initiative… Well done.

So…if God gives me life till i come back … this blog won’t be updated till last week of July

US Trip (2)

Thanks to Andrew hehe.. And thank God for everything that works nice and smooth… Providing me with friends and useful informations…  Only a few hours on Sun morning in Taipei…and yet i’m cared so much =)

This week work ends quite peacefully as well. Really thank God….otherwise i won’t be peaceful for the weekend.

Now few more things like few more summer clothes and digital camera. Thinking whether should get Canon Powershot A520 or Nikon Coolpix 4600 (since they’re in my budget) …or something else better but still falls into my budget?

Hehehe….coming back from US will become a poor man again…:D

But i don’t know when i might go there again. So yah…take it maybe this is my first and last to US….may i have a good and enjoyable time there…)

Prazt to Europe, and Tepen to Vienna + UK, Aris to China….hmmm and me to US + Canada….who’s next to Africa and Aussie? 😀 hehehe…..

Lord over circumtances

This morning when i walked to the bus stop, suddenly a heavy rain poured down.

Then i remembered the song that goes like this :

He’s the Lord of the sunshine, the Lord of the rain
He’s the Lord of the mountain, the Lord of the sea
He’s the Lord of the good times, the Lord of the pain
The Lord of the children | The Lord of the old folk
The Lord of you and me =)

Beautiful song… And after been reading the book of Revelation (last book of the Bible)…and this morning read about how God worked in bringing disaster for Absalom by turning Ahitophel idea into foolishness.. That God is the Lord over everything. Man can plan in his heart, but the Lord that determines his steps.

So…hehhe…this morning while waiting for the bus…i enjoyed stood there under the rain, instead of running to the shelter like all the people….hehehe…of course with my umbrella on my rite hand…

But yah still….the rest of the people were watching me…they must think this guy is crazy…standing under rain…and singing some more… :D…Maybe…abit crazy after reading my Bible and things were connected like chain of lightning…hehehe…

But true, the song is indeed beautiful…because it puts the opposite things together…and God is the Lord of both things….both good times and pain, both the sunshine and the rain, both the mountain and the sea…and all sort of people. He’s the Lord over all circumtances.

And this is how Peter addresses Jesus the Nazareth :

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ–this Jesus whom you crucified” ( Acts 2 : 36)

Still a fool

Yah…i guess can’t escape from reality. That i’m afterall still a proud person. The lost at semifinal against “less skillful” opponent, i think is a good medicine for the proud heart =)

Well, it’s very painful. But bitter medicine is a good medicine. Hopefully i’ll remember this always. I said i’ll learn, but never learnt…how foolish =(

Dunno if someone might invent a pride detector…will buy that 😀 hehe…
