Promise Keeper

We received quite a numbers of prayer requests from people. And going through the list, I started to draw similarities. Here is the grouping based on similarities that I observe: From a concerned parents (usually mothers) for their children and even grandchildren, secondly from a concerned husbands for the well-beings of their wives, and from singles about their health & works.

As I was meditating on Luke 1, the song of Mary and prophecy of Zechariah, I was drawn to this phrase,”God remembers His covenant.”

And I realise how precious and liberating is that truth in those outburst spontaneous declarations.

"...remembering to be merciful
to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”
"...to show mercy to our ancestors
and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath he swore to our father Abraham:"

The only thing that would give any human hearts a true sense of peace is to know that God Almighty remembers to keep His promises.

Both Mary & Zechariah, as they traced the fingerprints of God in His revelation to them of His marvellous salvation plan, were reminded that God was acting in accordance with His Covenant to His people from long ago. That God has not forgotten His Covenant of salvation. And that now is the time of His action to fulfill His promise. And that got them excited and rejoicing.

Therefore, this verse in the New Testament:

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. ~2 Cor 1:20

becomes so beautiful and affirming, of the certainty of God’s character and the Lord Jesus as the fulfillment of all God’s promises.

That is, for all our aching hearts and longing desires, for all our burdens and anxieties. When our eyes look to Him, He shows us Jesus; God’s YES to all His eternal promises for mankind (our refuge, protector, future, health, sanity, joy, and anything we truly need in all circumstance).
