Thanksgiving 2021

We just came back from holiday. A nice holiday. Yesterday, had a scare when I called to make doctor appointment, they asked me to go see Emergency.

So this morning, post holiday and post scare, we had all our food ready. I just thought to give thanks to God.

Thank you Lord for eyes that see. It's so good to see.
Thank you Lord for breath in my lungs. It's so good to be alive.
Thank you Lord for good health that I could move around.

Thank you Lord for watching over us; on the road, the weather, food on the table....those that we do not have control over.
I pray you use the breath, vision, and mind that You gave, for praiseworthy stuff for you.

Thank you Lord for being so good.

There are 3 things that memorable on this trip:

Firstly, on our way home, we stopped at Colac for lunch and we met a dog that separated / lost from its owner. I thought to leave it since it knows how to survive in the park and people are generally kind towards this dog. My wife managed to call the town council and they would send someone to get the dog. On our way leaving the town, we saw the car of the person that supposed to get the dog. My wife prayed that the dog could be returned to its’ owner. The next day, she called again to check about the dog. Later in the afternoon, she received a call that they managed to find the owner and the dog is returned to its owner. What a joy to hear that. A lost dog that returned home.

Secondly, on our adventure walk to spot animals (emu or kangaroo), we passed through tall bushes. In front of us young couple stopped in fear, and pointed to something moving on the ground, blocking our path (left and right full of tall bushes). As I came closer to check, I saw something brown and scaly look like snake, but too short to be a snake, look like a lizard but too scaly for a lizard. It was not moving but the couple told me they saw it moved a lot before I came. We had 2 choices, get pass this creepy stuff or go back where we came from (which is quite far walk). My girl gave me their walking stick, but it’s too short to reach. I don’t know what it is, I can’t see it’s head (covered in the tall bushes), it seems stopped moving, and I remember Genesis 1:26, where God blessed mankind to rule over all the animals. I prayed Jesus would protect us. I carried my little girl, holding a bush I plucked from the ground to distract the animal, asked my elder girl to pass through first. Finally, we all passed through the scaly animal safely, with the young couple behind us. I learnt that with God we are more than conqueror. Jesus protected us, better than the strength of man (the man behind me was younger, bigger, taller, stronger).

Thirdly, out of our 4 days holiday, weather prediction was 3 days rain and 1 day sun. So we scheduled our itinerary accordingly. On the second day when it’s supposed to rain in the afternoon, we went to the beach in the morning. It was empty. Then we went for lunch before going for a playground trip for the girls. On our journey back from the playground, we did some groceries, and then about 12 minutes from camping ground, it rained so heavily. It’s one of the few instances where I behind the wheel and gripped with fear. I could hardly see beyond 10m, but I thank God for the GPS that I could see the destination getting nearer….10 minutes, 5 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 40m, and we arrived. I can’t imagine if I’d to drive in those crazy downpour without knowing how long more before I reached safety. So Lord, have mercy on us, and give us the grace to know how long more till all this madness will pass and we reach a safe haven.
