Father Daughter night (1)

Tonight, i had an opportunity to look after her alone, while my wife went out to buy dinner. Somehow, she kind enjoyed and behaved well.

Once i put her on her high chair, she listened and behaved rather well. I boil 2 eggs for her, put a glass of water in front of her, pluck a banana, and took 2 plates on the table.

While i plucked the chicken on the table, she managed to peel the banana by herself (surprise me). And she finished off in a blink of an eye. I off the gas and took the boiled egg. When i peel the egg, she started to eat the chicken already…..1 banana + 1 chicken

Death at the Door

Recently, there has been many death news around me.

Beginning with wife of founder my ex-company at the age of 84. Followed by a young guy in church, left behind a wife & 2 little children just last week. And most recent is our friend’s father that passed away because of asthma.

Just now, I read a news of another friend whose mother is ready to go.

All these remind me that we are mortal. Life is short. Often times we waste time & energy for things that does not really matter at the end.

Remember again the prayer of Moses: “Teach us to number our days, so that we may get heart of wisdom.” (Ps 90:12)

Most Fortunate Man

Just when i was about to be tempted…for i saw in newspaper, this month lottery amount of $10 million. I thought, if i’ve to share 1 million (10% of it) with my friends, we probably could live happily for many many years.

Then I cleaned up the dining table floor from our girl’s mess, I saw that my wife already cleaned the table.
Then I collected all the rubbish to throw them outside, I saw that my wife already gathered all the dirty diapers and put next to the door. She even put the plastic bag for the dustbin.

Then I washed my hands in the kitchen, I saw that my wife already cleaned up the kitchen. I opened our rice cooker, and I saw that she has already cleaned that also.

Then I went to the bathroom to take shower. I saw that she has already cleaned the dressing table. She has inserted the dustbin underneath the basin so the water dripping won’t dirty my pant. And I saw the exhaust-fan cleaned from dust.

Then I put on my clothes, and I saw the wardrobe is full of my clothes ironed well. Outside our bedroom, I saw that she cleaned up the fan half-way. She opened it by herself.

I marvel at this woman. Where on earth she got the strength and time to do all these things? She cleaned up the house, she cleaned up the rooms, she cook dinner, and look after a very active child.

I must be a most fortunate man to have married her. What my pastor said on our wedding day, that I stroke heavenly lottery to have her as wife.

Thank you my beloved wife.

Growth from Becoming a Parent

One writer wrote and I agreed to her,”when you’ve children (many), you will just cut out the crap.”

That is one a good thing i realize recently. Time is just so precious, that you won’t have time for fantasy and ideals. You would just grab the essentials, and practical. As long as things work, life goes on.

The second thing is that you get better at anticipating problems. Somehow your antenna is quick to detect any potential problems, and found the sure proof solution.

But to everything excess, there are always not so good thing.

So to counter those things, I learn to reflect also. To keep the ideal, and somehow when possible, “whatever is good, lovely, perfect, to think of such things…” (Paul’s letters)

My Redeemer Lives

Yesterday was not feeling well, and thought probably today gonna need to take some rest. And so this morning, went to see doctor and given 2 days of rest.

Now wife brought baby to do groceries, and i had time of my own. Was reading the messages and one from brother J especially touched me. And it reminded me of this song “My Redeemer Lives” by Marty Nystrom.

As i listen from youtube, it really an uplifting song. Just thought to share the lyrics here:

My redeemer lives
And I will see His glory
As He works all things
Together for my good
Whatever things occurred
Of this I can be sure
I know my redeemer lives
I know my redeemer lives

Even though I walk through the valley
I will fear no evil He is with me
And on the battlefield although the pain is real
My struggle soon will fade as His glory is revealed

May you be blessed as you listen the lyric and song.

A Better Man?

Tonight, i guessed i just liberated from one more “false” doctrine out there. Somehow, I couldn’t understand why i believed and many others too. For one my ex-teacher told me,”to be a better man, get married!”.

I soon got married, and my friends teased me that I’ve chosen the path to be a better man. And for some times, I was happy and feel that I’ve become a better man. What a foolish person I was.

Lately, I notice how wrong that is. For one, there are many married man, and they did not turn better with the length of years of their marriage. I am afraid that some probably went to get worse instead.

And second, the most powerful and compelling truth about what could change a person / make a person to be better, actually is the Son of God. It is not the status of a person that makes a person better / worse. Only the work of the Son of God, who lives in me, that makes me to be a better person. For the Bible clearly says that we’re all transformed into the likeness of God’s son every day (2 Cor 3:18). And that certainly will make all believers a better person each day, regardless whether they’re single or married!

Today Time Off

This morning I woke up with bodyache and a sore throat. And initially i thought to go office. But at the same time, I feel my body so heavy. My wife came with our daughter, and so I was discussing with her if I should rest at home, or should go to office.

As i took out my business shirt, and about to change, our daughter stood up and said,”Today Time Off.”

We both laughed, and she smiled cheeky. I was not sure if i should listen to our 17 months girl or should i make my own decision. There are times she just said “nonsense” things and we took it too seriously.

But those words made me think, if we seriously need to have Time Off. Very often we neglect it. Even Sunday we busy with a lot of things. I guess Time Off in her simple mind, time for her. Not doing my own things. Switched off everything else.

So yah, i think I really need that. We all need it, a time off…everything else just stop, or we stop from everything else, As Psalmist says,“Be still, and know that I am God.”

A Very Good Weekend

Sometimes we never know the end at the beginning.

Yesterday, we’re about to go to service. We waited for 30 mins to take a taxi, and there is none. I feel quite disturbed, and added my wife started to arrange some plans without consulting me. It ends two of us making our own plans for the rest of the day. To which adding to my frustration.

We went home, trying to work out things, and i still feel the tension isn’t resolved. I’ve to admit, i feel sorry for my daughter when this kind situation arises. She shouldn’t have to experience all these. But there she is, brave herself, not crying, and not adding to the stress.

We went for lunch nearby. Thank God we managed to get a seat. Our daughter didn’t eat a lot. But she’s happy. Then I insisted we buy mineral water because it’s gonna be a long day, and over there will be more crowded. It added the tension, and after that, i can’t find my wife when she’s supposed to wait for me at lift entry. I felt very sorry afterwards that I shouted at her on way down the escalator. I told her that Sunday we shouldn’t rush, but I rushed her to the train. Obviously she was angered, that she scolded me inside the train.

Then after few stops, we parted our way. I went to pick up the movie ticket, while my wife brought our daughter to meet her sister. His meeting ended on time, so I met him in train station and got the ticket. HP battery run low, so I texted my wife, we meet at the movie theater at time, coz i managed to get the ticket.

I thank God again for my friend’s ticket still available, and at good price, lastly managed to get from him on time. So book the movie, 2 rows from the front. I thanked God again that we manage to get to watch the movie. Shortly after that, my wife came, and we made up for the beginning of the day.

She went again with her sister to find new pair of shoes for our girl. I brought this little girl around. She enjoyed herself, dragged me around, till i felt very tired…and she waited for me to gain back my strength. She enjoyed playing with the water, and climbing and sliding down…she’s such a joy to behold.

Then we tried the shoes, but all too small for her little feet. And time for us for dinner. This time another pleasant surprises came. My sister-in-law bought birthday cake for my wife. And her wishes to blow birthday candle was fulfilled. I didn’t know what to say. Earlier she regretted this year birthday. But i think today was a memorable day for her. I thank God again for a wonderful sister-in-law.

And finally, she even treated us for the nice dinner (with funny episode our daughter felt asleep on dining chair). The timing just nice that our movie about to start and we finished the dinner. So what a marvelous of my sister-in-law, she babysit our girl for 3 hours, and after long, finally I caught Hobbit 2 with my wife. It’s a nice movie, a nice weekend.

Thank God so much for the wonderful weekend. What seem to be a bad day, turned out to be one of the wonderful weekend, full of experience. I managed to do some work also on top of that. Praise God!

A Progress

This is busy period. Have been non-stop at work. From the Office Move (need to pack & unpack), purchasing of New Server and working with the IT Vendor, launching a new service (online survey for more than 2000 people), and lastly to involve with the new office IT & operation.

There are extra couple of things like people leaving, and new startup inside the company, etc. Bottom line is there’re so many things to do, and many of us hasn’t really get our rest.

This afternoon, received another “complaint” session. As i walked for lunch, the usual thoughts came to me, how thankless we can become. When everything good, it’s easy to praise. But when times is bad, how easy for us to forget all the good and just look into the negative. I could do the same. One day I would probably walk away, and see if these people would feel the lost. I bet they wont. After all, we human forgets easily.

Yet, strange thing happened. I didn’t respond that way. Instead, I accept things with calmness and kind of peace of emotion. In fact, I can feel that it does’t matter what others say. I’m still doing my job to my best ability. It’s not up to people to judge my work. There’re people better than me out there. Plenty. There’re many other works greater than mine out there. But here I am, I’m doing what required of me by my Creator.

Given time, opportunity, and if the Lord will, I can do better. I’m glad that I think i’ve matured in handling downside of life. There’re many downsides lately. So far, the Lord has been good and upholding me.
