The verse above struck me on God’s faithfulness & infinite wisdom. God had promised Abraham that He will give the land to his descendants. And yet the people rebelled against God. What can God do? He didn’t overrule their rebellions. and he didn’t cancel His promise. What a supremely wise excellent God!!!
Instead, God punished the entire generation that rebelled against Him. They reap the consequence of their actions.
And he raised. He made new branch from the old tree. Different individuals, but the same entity. To these new shoot, He fulfilled His promise. So did God keep His promise? Yes!! Did He reign? Yes!!!. Who inherit His promise? People who are His.
Hence, God’s promises always true and will stand at the end. Regardless of our doings, God will always have the last word. But our doings will determine if we would be in or out of His promises. If we believed, it will be ours. Otherwise, God will give them to those who believed. And God is more than able to give to those whomever He will. No doubt about it.
Perhaps due to our disobedience and disbelief, we missed out God’s promise and blessings. But take heart, He will certainly fulfill it (because He is Faithful). And He will give to those who are better than us (in believing). Hopefully to the people close to our hearts.
