Coming of a VIP

Today, there’s a minister coming to our premise. And it’s interesting to see what’s going on and how people respond to the news.

The building management has the stage and lighting prepared from yesterday.

This morning my HR has told us that by certain time, when minister came, we are supposed to go out and wave at him. Apparently, the whole tenants of the building is supposed to greet him. Then a lot of baloon would be released, and bang!! with the sound systems and music ready at the background.

And the most interesting thing to me is, they get the toilets fixed and cleaned this morning. The re-painted the walls, and even bothered to scrap the toilet wall from dirt. It looks very very clean both from the outside and in the inside. That is to welcome a human VIP.

This verse then speaks to me:

“And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming.” ~ 1 John 2:28

If we make sure the coming of a VIP in such manner, how much more we should keep ourselves clean and presentable for the coming of JESUS, the king of kings?

Could it be the way we live our lives prove that we don’t really think Jesus will be coming today?

I still vividly remember the day I propose to my wife. That day I worked hard to make the house as clean as possible. I hide behind all the unsightly stuff. I put nice scent to get rid the bad odor.

My wife always remember on that day, the house is at the most pleasant side. It has never before the house so clean and aromatic.

I made it that way, because on that day, I was expecting her to come and it was a big day for us.

How much do we do to make ourselves presentable to Jesus at His coming?

“Dear God, help me to live in such a way that when you come today, I should not be ashamed but will be full of confidence.”
