This morning, i wake up and the children are still in bed. Thank God for a good quiet time. Here the passage for this morning:<\/p>\n
It was now about\u00a0the sixth hour, and darkness\u00a0fell over the whole land until\u00a0the ninth hour,\u00a0because the sun was obscured; and\u00a0the veil of the temple was torn\u00a0in two. And Jesus,\u00a0crying out with a loud voice, said,\u00a0\u201cFather,\u00a0into Your hands I commit My spirit.\u201d\u00a0Having said this, He breathed His last.<\/strong>\u00a0Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he\u00a0began\u00a0praising God, saying, \u201cCertainly this man was\u00a0innocent.\u201d And all the crowds who came together for this spectacle, when they observed what had happened,\u00a0began\u00a0to return,\u00a0beating their breasts.<\/em> (Luke 23:44-48)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Jesus’ death confirms one thing: His Innocence<\/strong>. The Centurion and all the people who witnessed the whole episodes, concludes the same thing; that Jesus was an innocent man. The sun failed to shine, the curtain of the temple torn in two, and He called the Father and He died.<\/p>\n And there’s beautiful words by someone I read few years ago. In the whole episode, we see Jesus was handed over, from Judas to the Priests. From the Priests to the Pilate. From the Pilate to the soldiers. From the soldiers to the cruel cross. But Jesus, from the Getshemane to the Calvary, he only handed over his life to His Father’s hands. It’s true what John said, that “He didn’t believe in man” (John 2:24)<\/em>, and in Psalm,”my times is in your hands. (Psalm 31:5)<\/em>”<\/p>\n And again it reminds me of what Jesus’ says earlier,”unless a kernel falls to the ground and died, it remains single. But when it dies, it bears a lot of fruits” (John 12:24)<\/em>. Hence, Luke clearly wrote in his gospels, that upon Jesus’ death, the people was in remorse (following Zech prophecy – 12:10<\/em>). They realized that they made terrible sin by believing their leaders in condemning Jesus to death. Hence, when Peter presented again the resurrection of Jesus and the promise of God, 3000 people believed and baptized (Acts 2:41)<\/em>. Unless there’s death in the first place, there won’t be fruit coming up.<\/p>\n And that’s what Jesus’ challenge us today. Unless we die to ourselves, and take up the Cross and follow Him. Our lives won’t bear much fruit. But if we trust God enough, to surrender our life into His hands, He will take it up, and our “death” would be for His gain. After all, whether we like it or not, life is always in His hands. Blessed is he who lose his life for the sake of Him, that he gets back his life (John 12:25-26)<\/em>. Indeed…that’s probably one of the beauty and paradox of life.
