<\/p>\nLast sunday, we visited a well-known congregation in Qnstown area.<\/p>\n
I had respected their founder since young. In fact I have learnt many things from him. I would say he’s one of probably most impactful Christian leader in this era. For all that he had done, I would give him the full credit.<\/p>\n
Many years ago, however, I decided not to listen to him anymore. Simple reason is because I don’t benefit much from it anymore as before. The message became more self-centered \/ inward-looking somewhat. When i heard many comments from people, they just confirmed what I’ve seen before.<\/p>\n
Last sunday, however, i happened to visit and listened for the whole 2 hours plus. After spending some times, reflecting on what should I write here, finally I decided to write it down\u00a0<\/p>\n
First of all, I don’t want to pass judgment on others. A person would be judged by the Word, and his words. And i believe the Word is very clear on this,\u00a0“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”\u00a0<\/strong>Though it seems great now, i wont’ be surprised that one day all these greatness will collapse. There’s none of human greatness that last forever. Probably, now it has already begin declining.<\/p>\n Second thing which I strongly felt, his approach seem contradicting Jesus’ Great commission in Mat 28. For He says, “Go, make disciples of all nations, teach them to obey all I commanded you, and baptize them into Father, Son, Holy Spirit<\/strong>“. It’s very clear instruction, every believers to make all nations disciples of Jesus Christ. Isn’t it? And not disciple of any movements \/ theology. The difference is very stark. Disciple of Jesus Christ means listening and obeying all what Jesus says. Disciple of certain school \/ theology \/ movements means listening and obeying all what the leader dictate (even when quoting Scripture).<\/p>\n If i can meet him and speak with him, I would still bring him these two points. And i do pray for him, that as he’s approaching his seventies….he would grow to be more like Jesus. Many great men in history. And many of these great men fails in the last years of their lives. What a sad reality. I pray that he would not throw his goods at the last league of his race.<\/p>\n Having said all these, I also met another man, who is also in his seventies. He’s equally strong in body & spirit. The difference is that he acknowledges his weaknesses and sinfulness, the need to depend on God’s grace & mercy. He doesn’t boast about his achievements, but working tirelessly and supporting many people & their works across regions. He doesn’t have answers to all theological questions, in fact I could probably give better answer than him. One thing remarkable about this man, the only man whom I know, when he prays, I heard a giant’s prayer.
