“And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul,\u00a0gathered to him. And he became commander over them. And there were with him about four hundred men.” ~ 1 Sam 22:2<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

There are many interesting things inside this passage of 1 Sam 22. I learn a lot\u00a0about and from David. I could see David’s leadership capability (v2) that people came to him and made him their leaders. I could see his good heart also, where he provided and cared for his parents (v3-4). I could see his root also (v3,5), desiring and making sure that he walks in God’s will all the time. And lastly, his unwavering obedience to God, whatever the message is.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The verse above was the one that caught my attention first. It made me ponder and wonder. What did David do to these 400 men? He certainly led them. And he showed them how God lead him. He made it known to them that he followed God. He seeks God’s will. And he strives to obey that will at once, even though it sounds ridiculous to move from stronghold to land.<\/p>\n

Secondly, it reminds me of Jesus, who\u00a0is widely associated with the outsiders<\/em>. When the sinners and tax collectors come to Him, He didn’t throw them away. He eats and drinks with them. He teaches them. What he does, he did it to them.<\/p>\n

I thought, whoever the person God brings to you, never discard them away. Instead, minister to them by what God has given you. If you’re a leader, then lead. If you’re a teacher, then teach. Whoever you are and whatever God has entrusted to you, to be and to do as natural as breathing to and with the person. When you follow God’s will at any season in life, then one day all the puzzle would just fit in together.<\/p>\n
