Turns 35!

Seventy years are given us! And some may even live to eighty. But even the best of these years are often empty and filled with pain; soon they disappear, and we are gone.  ~ Psalm 90:10

So i have reached the halfway there 🙂

And the following things came to my mind:

  1. Whole of Psalm 90, is a prayer / petition before God. In the presence of God who is GOD, man just nothing (worthless). What’s the point of living then? In the presence of God who sees our deepest sin and holds us accountable, our ends are certain; our days are numbered. And the plea is for God’s mercy, that somehow…there is something worthwhile for God to consider and establish it.
  2. Ephesians 5:15-17, talking about making the best use of time, because the days are evil. Why is the days are evil? Is it days are evil as it is bad / corrupt like the devil? Or is it because we live in evil times? I think, it is related to the whole context of living a spirit-filled life vs following sinful nature life. The days are evil because they pass away quickly. Unless we grab every opportunities, our life won’t count much. Like our days are 70 years, and it just not much time. Without we realise it, it may soon pass. So be wise to make the best use of the limited short time we have. How?
  3. 1 Corinthians 15:56-58, to be abounding in the work of God, because our labor in the Lord is not in vain. That is a very great assurance. The only work / labor that is not in vain. And that was brought about by Jesus Christ (v.57), therefore only in Him, all labor is counted. Hallelujah!

Therefore, tonight I thank God once again:

  1. For giving me Jesus
  2. That i could come to know the Lord from a young age (i consider myself very very lucky, because then all my works / labor are not in vain)
  3. For the timely reminder, that: (i) time is short (ii) time is precious (iii) i could choose to use it wisely (iv) he is there for me…as the prayer in Psalm 90, was finally answered and fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Through Him and in Him, God will establish our work and show His salvation. He took our sins upon himself, and in return bless the work of the redeemed man and woman, for his glory.
  4. Since everything is accounted before God, our mistake will never final. I have committed many mistakes before, failed many times, blundered the same mistakes repeated times. Yet, every time i get up, God always gives a sense of newness, and i become stronger. In the human eyes, my life may not seem glamorous or filled with achievements. Yet i know in God’s eyes, every single details of my life is counted, and i give thanks to God for that.
  5. For giving me a wonderful wife and daughter. Soon i will enjoy being a father of another girl. What a blessed life.
  6. For giving me good health that I could still enjoy being in the body.
