Tonight, i guessed i just liberated from one more “false” doctrine out there. Somehow, I couldn’t understand why i believed and many others too. For one my ex-teacher told me,”to be a better man, get married!”.
I soon got married, and my friends teased me that I’ve chosen the path to be a better man. And for some times, I was happy and feel that I’ve become a better man. What a foolish person I was.
Lately, I notice how wrong that is. For one, there are many married man, and they did not turn better with the length of years of their marriage. I am afraid that some probably went to get worse instead.
And second, the most powerful and compelling truth about what could change a person / make a person to be better, actually is the Son of God. It is not the status of a person that makes a person better / worse. Only the work of the Son of God, who lives in me, that makes me to be a better person. For the Bible clearly says that we’re all transformed into the likeness of God’s son every day (2 Cor 3:18). And that certainly will make all believers a better person each day, regardless whether they’re single or married!
