Worship in the Odd timing

For the last 4 nites probably, I have been sleeping around 2am. Because our newborn girl started to wake up at 11pm. And she will slowly empty her bowel with little drops (followed by a lot of pains & cries because the gas in her stomach pushing the intestines), till she’s exhausted and slept.

For record, i slept 2.30, 2.10, 3.00, 1.00. And today, my wife took turn so i managed to slept at 1am.

In the middle of the night, she woke me up, to put our newborn back to her crib. Initially i was relunctant as i taught she could do it. However, finally i did it, and my fear was turning into reality. My newborn eyes completely alert. She’s ready for another 2-3 hours of slow torture (on herself and whoever doing the duty).

I saw the clock, it’s almost 4am. So i only slept for about 3 hours, and the next 2 hours would be with this little girl…after that point, no more sleep, and today a long day with my big girl.

Instead of lamenting and wasting the time…..I did what i usually do in such circumtances…to carry my girl, and worship God. But this time, the songs reflected my situation. I’m greatly thankful for the song writers……

The songs I sang were:

  • That I May Know Him – “that i may know Him, and the power of His resurrection. And the fellowship, of His sufferings….
  • You are My Hiding Place

Thank God, this time round, my girl didn’t stay awake for too long. And i could go back to bed soon afterwards.

But it was really the song by Paul that reminded me, to share in Christ suffering. It’s not easy when we’re in difficult situations, still trusting in God. And He gives strength and grace.
