Father Daughter Night (3): Why does Jesus knock?

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ~ Revelation 3:20

Tonight as usual, I washed my girl before going to bed. While inside the toilet, I heard someone knocked on the door.

So I opened the door, but did not see anyone.

Girl: “Papa, why did you open the door?”
Papa: “I thought I heard somebody knocked at the door. But I could be hearing wrongly.”
Papa: “…but it could be it was Jesus that knocked on the door.”
Girl: “…Why Papa, Jesus knocked on the door?”

Papa: “Because Jesus wants to come in?”
Girl: “Why does Jesus want to come in?”
Papa: “Because Jesus wants to eat with us, girl.”
Girl: “Why Papa? Why does Jesus want to eat with us?”
Papa: “Jesus wants to have fellowship with us.”
Girl: …(long silence)….

Then the whole questions came again…”Why did Jesus knock the door Papa?”

Papa: “Because Jesus is very gentle. He wants to come in, but He did not force His way. He waited for us to open the door for Him. He is very gentle.”
Girl: “Why does Jesus wants to come in?”
Papa: “Because Jesus wants to eat with us, girl.”
Girl: “Why?”
Papa: “Because He loves us.”
Girl: “Why?”
Papa: “Because He made us.”
Girl: “Neighbour?”
Papa: …….(thinking)……..

I then recalled that few days ago, we knocked at our neighbors door, to give them gift to celebrate the Hari Raya.

Papa: “Yes girl, Jesus knocked at our door, to give us gift, like we knocked on our neighbor to give them gift.”
Girl: “Why Papa?”
Papa: “Because God has blessed us, and we want to bless them too. We want to share with them.”
Girl: “Why did Jesus knock on the door, Papa?”
Papa: “Because Jesus want to give us the Gift of eternal life.”
Girl: “Why Papa?”
Papa: “Because we don’t have it girl. So Jesus wants to give us.”
Girl: “Why?”
Papa: “Because He loves us.”By this time, I have been thanking God for the blessed time. It is such a rare opportunity, to be able to talk in private, heart to heart…giving my best answer in a way a little girl could understand. And I know that I haven’t given her the answer yet because she’s still searching. Somehow, somewhere, my answer just didn’t click yet to her. Yet I’m very glad for the opportunity, from my hearing wrongly, to share about Jesus.

And by this time, I am blessed to know how much Jesus loves me. He loves me so much, to want to come and eat with me, enjoying a meal, giving me the eternal life which I don’t have. And He is such a gentle person, coming and knocking.

And it came down upon me, in contrast, we didn’t love and welcome him. We closed our doors. We left him outside, therefore he has to knock.

So that’s one of our blessed night talk. I prayed that one day, she hears Jesus knocking, and open her heart to Jesus.
