Thank God for His Word

This morning, I went for an appointment to see a doctor. When they were doing the registration, I saw on the desk, government help for citizens. So I took the brochure, to see if I am eligible for the subsidy.

I found out, that they define the lower – middle income person by calculating the total household income, divided by the number of family members staying together.

So, although at first glance, I won’t qualify for the subsidy because my monthly income is higher than the one stated. But after dividing that with number of our family members, suddenly, I become the middle income person…qualify for the subsidy.

And to my horror, next year when our 2nd daughter came, I would be close to lower income person, by that definition! I felt sad. I wished I could have earn more. The well seems taller or I sank deeper into lower class person.

Till, suddenly, I remember these words:

No doubt about it: children are a gift from the Lord;
    the fruit of the womb is a divine reward. ~Ps 127:3 (CEB)

 And I realized how foolish I were to listen to those definitions. Following that definition, children are burdens. For the more children I have, my personal monthly income gets smaller. And i get lower and lower in the rank of people needing help from government.

Compared with God’s view, that children are a gift / blessings. How far they’re different. A gift and a burden. One is to be received with joy and gratitude, the other is to be shunned and avoided.

I don’t need a proof. The Word of the Lord is the truth.
