From Apple to Jesus

This morning, as usual, we eat breakfast together. We finished the cherry, blueberry, and left with two pieces of apple on the plate. So i asked my girl to choose which apple she wanted. She picked the bigger, with cheeky smile on her face.

So I told her the story of Abraham & Lot. Abraham the older fellow, asked Lot to choose first. And being big hearted, Abraham even told Lot that he is ready to take whatever left. And Lot didn’t consider Abraham’s seniority and generosity, chose better one for himself. In the end, God told Abraham that whatever he sees and steps his feet on, will be given to him and his descendants.

Surely, God rewards Abraham’s generosity, and faith here.

Then, my girl asked me,

D: “How about Jesus?”

I was not ready for the question. So, i told her,

P: “As far as i could remember, Jesus didn’t have such situation, when he gives the choosing first to the other person and accepting whatever left behind.”

Then, God must have prompted me to add,

P: “But Jesus, took our punishment on the cross. We sin and punishment for sin is death. Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment.”

G: “Jesus take away.” (buhuhu)

(Not a good sign i thought, for my girl know that taking away is things we usually like and enjoy)

P: “No no no. Jesus is superior than Abraham. Jesus took the bad things from us, and gives us better things.” Abraham let Lot chose first the goods. But Jesus took the bad thing from us, and gives us much better things. So Jesus is better than Abraham.”

Hence, we finished our breakfast talk. In my heart, i thank God for such rare opportunity, and turning the apple to Jesus 🙂
